What Is Your Life Span? Ask The Calculator
Life Span Calculators Can Predict How Long You Will Live

One of the most frequest questions from individuals calling the Association is "what's the real probability I'll really need long-term care?".

To be honest, many of the statistics thrown around are irrelevant and misleading. They do scare people into understanding there is a risk - and that's good. But I personally do not believe in scaring people with irrelevant facts.

After over 20 years of studying long-term care and long term care insurance issues, here are some real facts.

Most long term care insurance claims begin after a person reaches age 70. According to annual studies by the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, 22.7% of new claims begin between ages 70-79. Just over two thirds 67.4% of all new long-term care insurance claims begin after age 80.

IF YOU LIVE A LONG LIFE -- CHANCES ARE ENORMOUSLY HIGH THAT YOU WILL NEED LONG-TERM CARE. That's the fact that is most relevant to you.

Long-term care insurance planning must begin however while you are still able to health qualify -- typically between your mid-fifties and mid-sixties.

This webpage contains some links to life span calculators that can help predict how long you may live. What's Your Life Span? Ask The Calculators.

To help individuals plan their financial future as well as to see the impact of important lifestyle changes, a number of great online calculators will now help you predict your life span.

The most basic calculators will ask some simple questions like your gender and birthdate. More complex ones (the ones we tend to prefer) ask more questions related to those factors which influence how long we will live.

We'd like to offer a few caveats. First, no calculators can predict what will actually happen to you. The best they can do is provide some general assessment based on the law of large numbers. Out of 1,000 people just like you, here's the average lifespan. So your actual life span could be shorter or longer ... much shorter (sorry) or much longer.

But it is worth taking a few minutes because it may surprise you to see how long you may actually live. Then, the all-important question to ask is ",strong>"am I prepared financially for the risks that may result from living a long life?".

LivingTo100.com

This calculator asks dozens of questions about many things from family longevity to how often you eat red meat. Frankly it is one of the better ones we have found and only takes a few minutes to use. They will require that you provide your email address at the end in order to get the results of all of your information.
