DAVE RAMSEY IS ABOUT NOT WASTING YOUR MONEY
He's right. There's no reason to waste your hard earned money. So, here's what you need to know. Costs for virtually identical long term care insurance coverage vary (by as much as 90%). That's because each insurance company sets their own price, each offers different discounts and each has what we call 'sweet spots' (times their coverage is much more affordable than a competitor). That's why we strongly recommend working with a knowledgeable long term care insurance specialist who is appointed (approved) to sell policies from the leading insurance companies. We'll share 3 questions to ask to determine if someone specializes in this field below.
DAVE RAMSEY IS ABOUT GETTING THE BEST VALUE
He's right again. Dave Ramsey does constantly refers to his Endorsed Professionals. These individuals pay for the endorsed title and pay for leads from his website and that's okay. When it comes to shopping for long term care insurance, we believe it pays to work with someone who specializes in long-term care insurance. Your medical doctor is fine for your routine physical. But, if you have a heart problem, you want a specialist -- a cardiologist. Today, long term care insurance is complex. It's a costly purchase you'll only do once. So, to do it correctly we believe it pays to work with a specialist.

How Do I Find A Long Term Care Insurance Specialist Even Dave Ramsey Would Endorse?
Agents pay the Ramsey organization to be "Endorsed" so maybe the use of that word ('Endorsed') wouldn't apply. But certainly finding a knowledgeable long term care insurance specialist who puts your needs before theirs is someone Dave would agree is in your best interest. Ask the following 3 questions to any insurance or financial professional you work with. It's your money and your future.
Three Questions To Identify A Long-Term Care Insurance Specialist
HOW MANY YEARS HAVE YOU BEEN SELLING LONG TERM CARE INSURANCE ?
We recommend a minimum of 3 years . Five is generally better because it takes that long to really understand these policies and to acquire the experience. We like to say no one wants to be a brain surgeon's second patient. Okay, long term care insurance is not brain surgery; but it's pretty complex. Why not work with someone with experience? It's to your benefit.
HOW MANY LONG TERM CARE INSURANCE POLICIES HAVE YOU SOLD ?
We recommend a minimum of 100 . Again, it's about experience and maybe even seeing what happens when a policyholder goes onto claim and starts receiving benefits.
HOW MANY LONG TERM CARE INSURANCE COMPANIES ARE YOU "APPOINTED" WITH ?
The word "appointed" is insurance industry jargon. An insurance agent can only sell insurance from a company they are "appointed" with. They can compare everyone BUT they will obviously favor companies they can sell (where they will be paid a commission). A long term care insurance specialist who is appointed with 5 to 6 insurers can compare them all for you. He or she can explain why they feel one company is better for you. But if you decide on a different insurer, they can also sell you that one. Bottom line: they will have your best interest in mind. FYI: in some states (like California) there are fewer long term care insurers offering coverage, so a specialist may only be appointed with 3 or 4 insurers.
